This project focused on creating a visually compelling 3D animated poster, using typography as the primary element to explore abstract concepts through motion and design. The objective was to challenge traditional perceptions of type by integrating it with dynamic 3D forms, ultimately conveying a message or emotion in a visually stimulating way. Key themes such as "Chaos and Order" or "Rhythmic Flow" were encouraged to inspire the designs.
The project began with concept development, where we chose an abstract theme and sketched initial ideas, emphasizing how typography could visually represent our theme. For my design I chose to pick a topic that I feel is very important to me which is femism. Inspired by sayings and quotes from Pinterest, I selected the phrase, "Nothing is more fragile than a man's ego." This phrase highlights how some misogynistic individuals resist women’s rights, not because of valid reasoning, but due to their inability to accept women as equals, fearing it may challenge their sense of superiority or pride.
Next, in the 3D design and typography phase, custom typefaces were designed or modified, and 3D elements were modeled to reflect the chosen concept. I designed the background Poster in a modern, minimalistic style, incorporating abstract and experimental typefaces while manipulating the text for added impact. For the 3D element, I created a glass sculpture of the male biological symbol.
The animation featured the glass object rotating around an axis before shattering into smaller pieces, symbolizing the fragility of the male ego. It then reassembles, returning to its original form, emphasizing the cyclical nature of vulnerability and reconstruction.
The project provided me with valuable insights into motion graphics, 3D space, and the expressive potential of typography, enhancing my technical and creative skills beyond just the seemingly 2D plane.
